Friday, 26 September 2025
A leader of the Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad (BGCS) has been suspended over allegations of assaulting students who failed the half-yearly examination at a secondary school in Rangpur city, reports bdnews24.com.
This development was shared in a notice by BGCS Joint Member Secretary (Office) Mahfuzur Rahman on Wednesday.
The central committee has taken action against Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, convener of the BGCS Rangpur unit, citing breaches of discipline and engaging in activities against the organisation's ideology and interests.
A three-member committee has also been formed to investigate the allegations.
The investigation committee has been instructed to submit a report within 72 hours.
Commenting on the complaint, Imti said: "I have been working hard at the school for six months to help the children perform well. I became a little bit angry and disciplined them. However, 95 per cent of the students have no complaints."
