The BGFCL MD said gas experts detected gas seepage of the 3rd well of Titas from different pockets of the gas fields in the Anandapur and Shyampur areas of Sadar Upazila.
At first, Geological Survey of Bangladesh, BAPEX and BGFCL also detected a pore in the "Tubing Casing" of the well. They tried to stop the gas seepage but failed in absence of adequate machinery and equipment.
Local experts were forced to flare the gas as it was gushing out in an uncontrolled way, creating a blowout-like situation. So, the authority flared 90 million cubic feet of gas worth.
Canadian blowout prevention expert Bob Grace visited the gas field and tried to stop the uncontrolled gas seepage at different points of the field. After the study, he suggested the remedial measures.
