BGIC approves 15pc dividends

Bangladesh General Insurance Company (BGIC) Ltd approved 15 per cent dividends comprising 7.0 per cent cash dividend and 8.0 per cent stock dividend at the 22nd annual general meeting (AGM) of the company.
BGIC, the first private sector general insurance company in the country, held its AGM at the Central Hall of Eskaton Ladies Club in the city Monday.
Presided over by Chairman of the company Towhid Samad, the AGM was attended by Managing Director AK Azizul Huq Chowdhury, directors ASM Shahidullah Khan, Abdus Sattar, FMAB Siddique, AZ Humayun, Saleh Ahmed, Mahmud Hasan, Md Noor Alam and Mozibar Rahman.
The AGM began with a prayer for the eternal peace of the company's ex-chairman and founder MD late Md Azizus Samad.
The AGM also unanimously re-elected Salim Ahmed, Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury, AZ Humayun and Abdus Sattar and Saleh Ahmed and Mahmud Hassan directors from sponsor shareholders and public subscription shareholders respectively.
Besides, Sohail Humayun was elected as a public shareholder director.
Principal Adviser Khorshed Alam and Financial Consultant Anisuz Zaman Chowdhury and a large number of shareholders were also present on the occasion.
