CHITTAGONG, July 22: Leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have recently exchanged views in a meeting with high officials of Power Development Board (PDB) on loadshedding and irregular power supply to Chittagong-based ready-made garment (RMG) factories.
Chaired by BGMEA First Vice-president Nasiruddin Chowdhury, the meeting at the BGMEA regional office in the port city sought PDB cooperation in solving the power-related problems persisting in the RMG industries.
PDB Chittagong regional Chief Engineer Sujeet Chakma assured them of providing all possible cooperation for resolving the problems.
He hailed the BGMEA proposal for forming a coordination cell in Chittagong.
He has also assured them of lessening loadshedding in the areas of the port city, where most of the garment factories are located.
Mr Nasiruddin Chowdhury asked the PDB officials to contact the BGMEA before snapping power connection of any garment factory, if necessary.
