BGMEA plans to establish retail stores in India

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has proposed for establishing around 1,000 retail stores in various Indian cities to display and sell their products. The BGMEA also wants to invest approximately US$25 million in India for setting up a warehouse and distribution centre in India, and sought allotment of land for it in the neighbouring country in this regard. The BGMEA leaders, led by its President M Atiqul Islam, made the proposal to Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran at a meeting with him at the High Commission on Sunday, according to a news agency.
