The country's RMG manufacturers will explore potential markets in Latin America as a delegation left Dhaka on Saturday to visit Brazil, Mexico and Chile in search of buyers.
The 12-member delegation is headed by Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, first vice-president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), a press release said.
The purpose of the visit is to introduce Bangladeshi ready made garment to the emerging Latin American countries. Export of RMG to those countries has recently increased to a great extent, the release added. The team will hold a meeting with Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce, Brazil on May 24-25. They will go Santiago on May 26 and Mexico on May 29.
During the visit, they would discuss with businessmen, trade bodies and garment buyers and provide presentation on Bangladesh's RMG products and manufacturing strengths. They will also discuss on tariff and non-tariff barriers and ways to ease export from Bangladesh.
