BHBFC posts Tk 1.61b net profit last fiscal

The state-owned Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) posted a net profit of 19.25 per cent in fiscal 2007-08.
It made net profit Tk 1.61 billion in FY 2007-08 against Tk 1.35 billion in FY 2006-07, says a press release of the corporation.
The company sanctioned loan worth Tk 2.26 billion in FY 2007-08 compared with Tk 1.50 billion in FY 2006-07.
It disbursed loan worth Tk 1.47 billion in FY 2007-08, up by Tk 0.31 billion from Tk 1.16 billion in FY 2006-07. It recovered loan of Tk 3.89 billion against Tk 3.87 billion in FY 2006-07.
The BHBFC has achieved significant success in minimising classified loan as the amount of classified loan dropped to 13.93 per cent in FY 2007-08 from 17.62 per cent in FY 2006-07.
It aims to introduce new products for the common people to deal with the existing housing problem.
The corporation wants easy access to loans for the lower and mid income group of the country in order to reduce the prevailing crisis in the housing sector.
In this regard, the BHBFC arranges an "Annual Conference 2008" in a city hotel today (Thursday).
Finance adviser ABM MD Azizul Islam is expected to inaugurate the function.
