Bhutan urged to invest in power and energy sectors

A business delegation of Bhutan Investment Road Show has been urged to invest in power, energy and tourism sector in Bangladesh under Public Private Partnership (PPP) Initiative.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Senior Vice President M Shahjahan Khan made the appeal when a 17-member Bhutanese business delegation led by Secretary of Ministry of Economic Affairs, Bhutan Dasho Sonam met with him and other directors of DCCI at its conference room recently, according to a press release.
DCCI directors Rafiqul Islam Khan, past vice presidents Abu Horaira and Ashraf Ibn Noor, Convener Shoaib Chowdhury, Khair M Khan and DMD of City Bank Ltd Sohel Khan took part in the discussion.
DCCI Vice President Md Sirajuddin Malik, Rafiqul Islam Khan, M Bashir Uliah Bhuiyan, Mahabub Anam, Md Nasiruddin Khan, M Anwarul Haque were present during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan emphasised on reducing bilateral trade imbalance and increase trade volume between Bangladesh and Bhutan. He also said that connectivity both at the level of land, air and road is very important.
Mr Sonam said: "The bilateral trade relation between Bangladesh and Bhutan should be further enhanced and bilateral meetings such as this type of business meeting would strengthen the relation between businessmen of both the countries." He suggested, if required two flights in a week could be increased to a daily flight for further business promotion.
Secretary General of Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Phub Tshering said Bhutan has offered different incentives to the foreign investors to invest in Bhutan and expressed their willingness to establish Chamber to Chamber linkages.
