BIA organises basic course Thrust on training to meet expert crisis in ins sector

Training is essential for meeting the shortage of trained manpower in the insurance sector as well as facing the challenges of the time.
Chairman of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) AKM Rafiqul Islam made the observation while inaugurating the 11th basic course organised by the association on general insurance in the city Monday, said a press release.
He also said insurance was a technical subject. To train up executives in the sector, BIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) on April 29, '09.
Already 15 senior officials appeared at the MIIs professional examination held on April 30, '09. The next batch will appear at the examination in next October '09, he pointed out.
He expressed the hope that the officers who were taking part in the course would be benefited and would be able to perform their duties more efficiently for their respective companies.
Among others, Managing Director of Global Insurance Limited ABM Nurul Haq, Secretary General of the BIA Mollah Md Nurul Islam and Secretary of BIA Faiz Ahmed were present on the occasion.
A total of 29 executives from 17 general insurance companies are taking part in the course, the release added.
