BIA signs MoU with MII

Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) and Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the BIA conference hall in the city recently, says a press release.
BIA Secretary General Mollah Md Nurul Islam and MII Chief Executive officer (CEO) Khadija Abdullah signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Malaysian acting High Commissioner in Bangladesh Hamizan Bin Hashim was present at the signing ceremony.
Also present on the occasion were Managing Director (MD) of Green Delta Insurance Company Limited Nasir A Choudhury, Bangladesh General Insurance Company Limited MD AK Azizul Huq Chaudhuri and Prime Islami Life Insurance Limited MD Kazi Md Mortuza Ali spoke on the occasion.
Under the MoU, twenty (20) students from Bangladesh sat for the MII's professional examination in Dhaka Thursday under direct supervision of the MII's faculty.
This is the first step by the BIA in its endeavour to train up graduates in technical education of world class standard.
Before signing the MoU, BIA Chairman AKM Rafiqul Islam welcomed the delegation from Malaysia as well as the acting high commissioner.
The acting high commissioner said that Malaysia is keen to be a developing partner of Bangladesh. This will open a new cooperation in the field of insurance in addition to the existing cooperation in telecommunication, energy, banking, health sector and other fields.
The MII chief executive officer mentioned about the professional programmes of the Malaysian institute.
The MII provides students from fast developing markets with the opportunity to obtain internationally recognised insurance qualifications from the institute and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), United Kingdom (UK).
