BIA workshop begins in city Oct 23

Department of Insurance and Bangladesh Insurance Academy (BIA) will jointly organise a two-day workshop on 'life insurance management: problems and issues' on October 23 and 24 on the premises of Jiban Bima Corporation in the city, said a press release.
Chief Controller of Insurance (CCI) Mahfuzul Haque will be present on the occasion as the chief guest.
Mahfiazul Haque, former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank Mohammad Sohrab Uddin and Controller of Insurance Roy Devdas will be the key resource persons of the workshop.
Insurance sector is an essential part of the country's economy and its contribution to GDP is ever increasing. Life insurance plays an important role in this connection. Insurance businesses are operated under some rules and regulations. A clear understanding and awareness of the rules and regulations is a must for healthy development of the sector, added the release.
Some 40 senior executives from different life insurance companies will attend the workshop.
