Biased and partisan umpiring
Sunday, 22 March 2015
The World Cup has practically come to an end for Bangladeshi cricket lovers. We lost the match with India in the quarterfinals. But we are not disappointed with the result, rather we are terribly upset with the poor umpiring in the match. The match was not played in the true spirit of the game. It was a shame for cricket which is known as a gentleman's game. I hope the Tigers will not lose their heart and play better cricket in the future. Poor and biased umpiring has caused an uproar in the social, electronic and print media. Such biased umpiring will surely tarnish the image of ICC, the world cricket body. The ICC should immediately investigate into the incidents and take appropriate action so that we do not see such things being repeated in future. Particularly two decisions went against the Tigers and spoilt the match. But I heartily thank the Tigers for their spirited performance in the World Cup and I am sure it will encourage them to play better in the future. Although the Tigers lost the quarterfinal match, we are really proud of their performance. Bravo, Tigers! Very well done!
