FE Report
A kaleidoscope of earthen, rustic colours on evergreen cotton by designer Bibi Russel of Bangladesh left fashion aficionados in Bangalore asking for more in the fashion extravaganza recently in Hayward's Black International Men's Fashion Fair (HBIMFF).
"Sapne Bunte Haat" (Dreams Become Hands), a collection inspired by the hopes and optimism of craftsmanship of Rajasthani weavers, with whom Bibi has been closely associated for over a decade, was an aesthetic treat, wire services report.
Various textures of cotton; crinkled, layered kurtas in creamy whites with eye-catching vegetable dye motifs in bright, red, orange, green and brown near the cuffs and the neck, along with lean fitting cotton trousers with a Jodhpuri touch topped with checked turbans in different hues took one's breath away.
It was followed by an unusual array of grayish blue and greenish yellow block prints, layered Pathani salwars sported with short plain Kurtas and even jackets in similar shades.
A beautiful symbiosis of the golden desert sands of Rajasthan with bright earthen colours, which form an integral part of the historic state's culture was at play in the collection woven by the deft weavers.
