Bibiyana celebrates first anniversary of production

Bibiyana, one of the largest gas fields in Bangladesh, celebrated its first anniversary of operation Wednesday.
The Chevron-operated field came on stream in March 2007 and since then production has seen a steady increase, while maintaining a high standard of safety performance, said a press release.
A recent visit to the field, to coincide with one-year of successful operation, was attended by US Charge d' Affaires in Dhaka Geeta Pasi, Chairman of the state-owned energy company Petrobangla Jalal Ahmed and Chevron Bangladesh President Steve Wilson.
Speaking at the occasion Geeta Pasi said, "Chevron is a key supplier of energy products and services to Bangladesh. As the leading US investor in Bangladesh, Chevron is helping the country meet its increasing energy needs and is contributing to the country's overall economic growth."
Petrobangla Chairman Ahmed said, "Bibiyana field is indeed a good example of private-public partnership. The field has been operating efficiently and safely. With Bibiyana Gas, Bangladesh will have more reliable power generation which means more stability for industry and the assurance of industrial growth."
Chevron Bangladesh President Wilson said, "Bibiyana's contribution has ushered in a new era of energy reliability for Bangladesh. We have doubled our production to support Petrobangla's mission to increase supply of gas to meet the rising demand for energy in the country."
