Bid to resume post-Sidr academic activities by Dec 15 15 more bodies rescued

The government has taken initiatives to resume academic activities in full swing in the Sidr-affected areas by December 15 after reconstructing and repairing the educational institutions damaged by the Nov 15 storm, reports UNB.
The Education Ministry has allocated Tk 278.2 million (27.82 crore) for buying furniture, books and reconstructing 554 educational institutions completely damaged and repairing 2050 partially damaged in 72 upazilas of 11 districts, said a handout.
The ministry has also sent related allocation letters along with expenditure guidelines to the district and upazila offices concerned.
About 83 officials and teachers have been involved temporarily to complete the tasks properly and transparently by December 15 as per government guidelines.
Another report from Bagerhat adds, another 15 decomposed bodies of the November 15 cyclone victims were rescued Sunday from remote places of Morelganj and Swarankhola here.
Locals rescued 14 bodies in Morelganj and one in Swarankhola upazila, officials said. With this, the official death toll in Bagerhat district rose to 785. About 300 people are still missing in Swarankhola.
