Bidi workers demand tariff cut

Workers have staged a demonstration to protect the bidi industry from the aggression of multinational companies and to reduce tariffs on bidi in the next budget, said a press release.
Under the banner of Greater Rangpur District Bidi Sramik Union, over 1,000 workers took part in the programme held in front of Rangpur Public Library around 11:00 am on Monday to press home their demands.
Rangpur District Bidi Sramik Union General Secretary Abul Hasnat Lavlu, President of Rangpur Mohanagar Awami League Safiur Rahman Saf, President of Bangladesh Bidi Sramik Federation MK Bangali and its General Secretary Abdur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
