Bids invited to import two more spot LNG cargoes
FE REPORT | Sunday, 3 November 2024
State-run Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL) floated tenders to purchase two more spot LNG cargoes for December 4-5 and December 7-8 delivery windows, a senior RPGCL official told the FE on Saturday.
It also re-tendered for one spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo over the November 23-24 delivery window as the initial tender floated last month did not receive sufficient response, he said.
The RPGCL floated tenders for these spot LNG cargoes on October 30 and October 31 with the bid submission deadline ending on November 3.
The bid winners will deliver the LNG cargoes at Moheshkhali island in the Bay of Bengal, with options to discharge the cargo at either of the country's two floating storage re-gasification units (FSRUs) located on the island.
Each spot LNG cargo is equivalent to around 3.36 million mmBtu (metric million British thermal units).
Bangladesh previously awarded two spot LNG cargo tenders to Excelerate Energy for November 12-13 and November 16-17 delivery windows at US$14.55 per mmBtu and US$14.65 per mmBtu respectively.
Separately, Bangladesh has been importing LNG from its two existing long term LNG suppliers - Qatar Gas and OQ Trading for regasification in its two operational FSRUs.
