Big Boro output target in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Dec 8: Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed the target of producing 3,52,045 tonnes of paddy from 83878 hectares of land in Nilphamari district in this Boro season. DAE sources said which out of hybrid variety is in 33470 hectares of land to produce 1,58,983 tonnes of paddy and high yield variety in 50,408 hectares of land to produce 1,93,063 tonnes of paddy.
Preparations for farming of Boro paddy is going on across six Upazilas of the district.
Meanwhile farmers are busy preparing the seed beds to grow seeds for plantation. They are also preparing land for plantation of the saplings.
Sources said 50 per cent of Aman harvesting has been completed in the district and harvesting in the remaining Aman crop is also going on everywhere. Sources said Aman cultivation target was in 1,15,147 hectares of land to produce 2,73,732 tonnes of paddy.
