Big gold haul at Shahjalal: 1 held

A big haul of gold has been unearthed at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Kurmitola in Dhaka. A man has been arrested for the gold haul. Customs Intelligence sources said, they seized 8.4 kilograms of gold worth Tk 42 million and arrested a young man in this connection at the country’s main airport on Friday. The arrestee was identified as Md Azimuddin, 25, son of Chenu Miah of Feni district. Customs Intelligence officials at the airport said Azimuddin came here by a flight of Fly Dubai Airlines from Dubai around 10:40am. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the intelligence officials challenged Azimuddin when he was crossing the green channel and recovered 72 pieces gold bars from his possession. The present market value of the seized gold is around Tk 42 million, the said, according to UNB.
