Big govt pay hike proposed

The Pay and Services Commission on Sunday proposed a new salary structure for government employees, raising the public servants’ pay from 77 per cent to 100 pc. It has recommended Tk 80,000 as highest basic salary and Tk 8,200 as the lowest. The commission’s chief Mohammad Farashuddin submitted its report to Finance Minister AMA Muhith at the latter’s Secretariat office in the morning. The new pay scale will be effective from July 1, 2015, said the minister, according to a news agency.
