Biggest Eid congregation held at Sholakia

Bangladesh's biggest Eid congregation was held at Kishoreganj’s Sholakia where tens of thousands came to pray on Monday. Maolana Farid Uddin Masoud began the prayers for Eid-ul-Azha at 9am. The 1st Eid Jamaat (congregation) at Sholakia was held in 1828. Monday’s was the 187th congregation. Devotees started arriving at the ground on the banks of Narasunda River, east to the district town, from the morning. The ground filled up soon and the crowd spilled over to the surrounding areas. Traffic soon stopped. Two special trains called Sholakia Special were arranged for the benefit of the devotees. One left at 5:45am from Mymensingh and the other at 6am from Bhairab. Local administration officials said about 0.2 million Musallis attended the prayers at Sholakia this year, according to a news agency.
