Bijoy Express train starts its journey

A new intercity train – Bijoy Express – was introduced on Mymensingh-Chittagong route on Saturday to ease railway connectivity of greater Mymensingh region with the port city. The train will leave Mymensingh for Chittagong at 8:00pm everyday and depart the port city for Mymensingh at 7:20am. Railway Minister Majibul Hoque inaugurated the train at Mymensingh Railway Station in the district town. Addressing the occasion, the minister said the government has been working relentlessly to modernise rail communication so that the people could enjoy comfortable journey at a lower cost. He said the railway ministry is implementing 45 projects for building a modern railway network in the country. He expressed the hope that the railway communication of all district headquarters with Dhaka will be established by 2021. Minister for Religious Affairs Principal Motiur Rahaman, local MP Fatema Zohura Rani, senior government officials and local business leaders were present, according to a news agency.
