Bikolpodhara Bangladesh President Professor Badruddoza Chowdhury has termed the relaxation of emergency power rules in the areas of four city corporations and nine municipalities for a period leading up to local elections "a good sign", reports bdnews24.com.
However, he added, it would be better if the state of emergency were completely withdrawn.
He told the news agency, after the announcement of polls schedule for four city corporations and nine municipalities: "If the other political parties participate in the local government election, Bikolpodhara will do so also."
At an earlier function at the party's central office at Segun Bagicha in the city, the former President had said: "We think the Upazila elections should also be held before the parliamentary election."
