Billion eyes on most watched cricket match in history today
Sunday, 15 February 2015
The eyes of the world will be on Adelaide when India plays Pakistan today (Sunday) at 9.30 am.
More than a billion people will watch the sub-continental neighbours clash in a match that has been sold out for six months.
The audience will eclipse the 988 million who watched the two nations in their 2011 World Cup semi-final.
"It will be unlike any cricket match ever seen in Australia," said a World Cup official.
Adding spice - if any match between the nations needs any - Pakistan will be looking to break its World Cup duck against India.
India have won all five games since they first met, back when Australia and New Zealand hosted the tournament in 1992 - a tournament in which Pakistan captain Imran Khan hoisted the trophy in a famous triumph.
Pakistan has been the dominating side against India, winning majority of the matches. In the 59 Test matches played so far, they have won 12 times against India's 9. In the One Day Internationals, they have beaten India 72 times in 126 matches. But this trend seems to have taken an overhaul in the recent outings, especially in the cricket's newest format, Twenty20. India have won five out of six matches played against Pakistan. Despite this clear cut upper-hand, Pakistan always seems to lose the plot when they play India in the biggest tournament in world cricket, losing all five of their previous encounters.
