Biman carries 2,911 Hajj pilgrims in four days

Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried 2,911 Hajj pilgrims in four days beginning Monday while three flights were scheduled to carry 774 more pilgrims Thursday night. Biman, the national flag carrier, will ferry 42,000 pilgrims, 5,583 of them ballottees. Saudi Airlines will carry 10,000 of the pilgrims. In all Biman is expected to fly 170 Hajj sorties. As in previous years, pilgrims will fly from Chittagong and Sylhet by eight dedicated flights to be operated by Biman. Of 48,000 Bangladeshis, who performed Hajj last year, Biman carried 27,482. —BSS
