Biman earns Tk 59.1m net profit

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd earned a net profit of Tk 59.1 million (Tk 5.91 crore) for the period ended on June 30, 2008 since its turning into a public limited company (PLC) on July 23, 2007.
This was disclosed at the first annual general meeting (AGM) of the company held at its head office at Kurmitola in the city Saturday, said a press release.
Chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd Air Marshal (Retd) Jamal Uddin Ahmed presided over the AGM.
In the fiscal 2006-07, immediately before its conversion into a PLC, Bangladesh Biman Corporation incurred a loss of Tk 2.7219 billion.
The profit of Tk 59.1 million in the maiden year of its turning into PLC indicates a new beginning for the airlines.
