Biman Bangladesh Airlines has introduced Internet Booking Engine (IBE) to its ticketing system, officials said.
Biman Managing Director Air Commodore Muhammad Zakiul Islam (Retd) inaugurated the long-awaited system at its headquarters in the city Monday.
"With the introduction of IBE, passengers will be able to directly get information about airlines schedules and make bookings through internet," the Biman MD said.
Passengers can now reserve and buy tickets in advance, using the advantage of the system; but they will have to pay for the tickets and collect the same going to the Biman office within 24 hours of their bookings, he said.
Phase by phase online payment system will be offered and the travellers' need for visiting the airlines office will come to an end, he added.
The Biman MD also said that Biman aims to provide its clients with all the facilities and comforts that are expected by modern-day travellers.
The IBE is an application which helps the travel and tourism industry support reservation through the internet. It also helps customers to book flights, hotels, holiday packages, insurance and other services online.
Following the launching of IBE, the airline at long last has been able to make direct exposure to customers and it will help Biman to cut off extra expenses.
