Biman must be competitive
Saturday, 16 June 2007
WE have various ways for showing our feeling towards our nation. For example, many Bangladeshis at home and abroad may still be ready to avail themselves of Biman Bangladesh Airlines' flights for traveling so as to support the national flag-carrier and forestall its sinking. But Bangladeshi travelers are found to have been lately losing their feeling for this organisation because of its persistent bad performance in maintaining flight schedules. Most of them now prefer to refrain from showing this feeling towards Biman, as no one of them can be expected to be ready to buy pains.
There is now only one local mobile phone company in the country. It is facing tough time because of different constraints, particularly funds shortage. Local customers may support this company, enthused by our national feeling. If we use its cell phone ignoring its present limitations, the company may survive and grow up in this competitive market. But before that, the company itself has to assure the people that it would not run like Biman and would try its best to meet the expectation of its subscribers. It has to show competitive efficiency in its service.
