Biman resumes Dhaka-Frankfurt flight tomorrow

FE Report | Sunday, 30 March 2014

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to resume its flights on Dhaka-Frankfurt route from tomorrow (Monday) after a suspension of over seven years.
The national flag carrier will operate twice-a-week flights to this route, 19th overseas destinations, on every Friday and Monday, sources said.
Managing Director of Biman Kevin Steele told earlier: "New Boeing 777-300ER aircraft of Biman will resume flight operation on the Dhaka-Rome-Frankfurt route on March 31."
There will be two weekly flights on the route, which remained suspended since 2006 due to financial losses and a serious shortage of aircraft, Mr Steele, also the chief executive officer of Biman, said.
"Flight BG 055 will leave Dhaka on Friday and Monday at 10am for Frankfurt and reach there at 18:40 local time. Similarly flight BG 056 will leave Frankfurt at 20:10 local time which will arrive Dhaka at 13:00 hour local time on the same day, said a Biman press release.
The inaugural flight is expected to witness a lot of fanfare and festivity. A host of guests will fly to Germany on the inaugural day when the airline will operate its newly inducted Boeing 777-300ER on the route.
Frankfurt came under Biman's wings in 1986 and Biman had served the route for more than 19 years at a stretch. The flight was suspended in 2006 in the wake of aircraft constraint. Now with the acquisition of new aircraft, the airline is considering resumption of flights to places where it had presence in the past, added the press release.
