Biman resumes Dhaka-London-Manchester flights

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has resumed its Dhaka-London-Manchester flight with its newly-purchased new generation brand aircraft Boeing 777-300 ER named Palki, reports BSS. Palki arrived with 403 passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1.20pm Thursday from Manchester, a spokesperson of the national flag carrier told the news agency. The flight resumed after four-and-a-half years through the Palki's flying to London Wednesday morning. The new Boeing aircraft will operate the Dhaka-London-Manchester flights on every Wednesday and Saturday. The return ticket fare of the flight was fixed at US$1,575 and $900 for executive and economy classes respectively. Apart from Dhaka-London-Manchester flight, the new aircraft will also operate another Europe flight, Dhaka-Rome-Milan twice in a week from November 14, Biman official source said. The 419 seat aircraft has 35 seats in the business class and 384 in the economy. The new aircraft is among the 10 new aircraft for which Biman signed a procurement deal with the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing involving about $1.3 billion during the immediate past caretaker government. Under the deal, Biman will get another Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on November 21. Apart from these two Boeing 777-300ER, Biman would procure two more Boeing 777-300ER in 2013, two Boeing 737-800s in 2015, two Boeing 787-8 in 2019 and another two Boeing 737-800s in 2020.
