Biman staff to stage sit-in at Balaka on July 9

Friday, 4 July 2014

Employees of national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines will stage sit-in programme in front of Biman headquarters, Balaka, in the city on July 9 if their demands are not met by the time, reports UNB.
Biman Sramik League President Moshiur Rahman announced the programme following their siege programme to its chairman office at its headquarters.
"We'll observe the sit-in programme for two hours on the day and all kinds of activities at Biman's Balaka office will remain closed at that time," said Moshiur Rahman told the news agency.
A group of employees and CBA leaders of Biman Bangladesh Airlines kept the Biman chairman confined to his office room at Balaka earlier Thursday to press home their 14-point demand.
Their demands include continuation of identical allowance for Biman employees, providing dearness allowance and reintroducing medical allowance.
Several hundred workers and employees of the national flag carrier laid siege to the chairman office at Biman headquarters in the city from 11:00 am and the programme was withdrawn at 1:00 pm, said Harun-or-Rashid, office secretary of Biman Sramik League.
