Biman to resume flights on domestic routes shortly: Menon

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Thursday said that the domestic fights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will be resumed shortly. For the domestic flights, procurement of aircraft will begin from August, he said while talking to the reporters in the morning after a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners on the third day of the DCs conference. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners proposed introduction of domestic flights from Barisal, Ishwardi and Sayedpur districts. In response, the minister said the old routes which remain suspended will be reintroduced first. He asked the DCs to modernize the tourism sector in their respective districts to attract foreign tourists in increasing numbers, according to UNB.
