Biman to resume NY flight on June 4

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will resume its New York flight on June 4 this year after nearly eight years. The flight will operate via Birmingham. Biman’s Dhaka-New York flight remained suspended since July 2006 due to financial losses and serious shortage of aircraft. Briefing reporters at Biman’s Balaka Headquarters in the city, its Managing Director and CEO Kevin Steele said they have planned to lease two B777-200ERs from Egypt Air for five years to run Dhaka-Birmingham-New York flights. The flight will be operated twice weekly. After getting approval from the Biman Board, the national flag carrier will sign the lease agreement within next few days, according to a news agency.
