Biman to resume Rome flights

FE REPORT | Tuesday, 26 March 2024

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to resume its flights on the Dhaka-Rome-Dhaka route tomorrow (Wednesday) after a nine-year gap.
The first flight of Biman, BG-355, will depart for Rome from Dhaka at 3:30 am on March 27, says a press release of the national flag carrier.
A ceremony marking the resumption of the Dhaka-Rome flight will be held at 9:15pm today (Tuesday) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
Biman will operate direct flights to Rome with its brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which will reduce travel time between Bangladesh and Italy to just nine hours.
Bangladesh Biman initially started operating flights to Rome on April 2, 1981, but this service came to a halt on April 6, 2015, due to financial losses caused by massive fuel consumption by DC-10 carrier and aircraft shortage.
The Dhaka-Rome flight will be Biman's third European destination, as the national flag carrier currently operates flights to London and Manchester.
