BINA dhan11 sustains 24-day submergence

RANGPUR, Nov 15 (BSS): Growing plants of BINA dhan11 have successfully sustained a 24-day submergence at a stretch to resume normal growth again after recession of floodwater in village Patrokhata under Chilmari upazila of Kurigram this season.
The phenomenon in case of flood tolerant variety BINA dhan11 happened in the field of farmer Lal Mian creating huge enthusiasm among local farmers when all other traditional variety growing Aman rice plants were totally damaged in surrounding areas.
Lal Mian is now expecting to harvest his cultivated BINA dhan11 rice on one acre land within the next one week to get an average yield of around 4.5 tonne paddy per hectare.
Lal Mian narrated the success in farming BINA dhan11 to Project Scientist (Country Manager) of STRASA-IRRI Project in Bangladesh Dr MA Bari and Senior Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mamun Islam in his crop field on Thursday last.
Administrative Assistant of RDRS Bangladesh Krishna Kamal Roy and upazila level officials of the Department of Agricultual Extension (DAE) and a large number of local farmers were present on the occasion.
