Biofuel as alternative energy source
Saturday, 10 December 2022
We cannot even think of spending a single day without uninterrupted supply of electricity. The overall economic development of the country also relies a lot on generating power. But the fossil fuels used in electricity generation are getting exhausted day by day. Many countries of the world are now shifting to alternative renewable energy sources from fossil fuels like coal, fuel oil, natural gas, etc, for generating electricity. We know it well that use of fossil fuels is harmful for our environment.
As an alternative, some countries have already made significant progress in developing biofuel. Biofuel is being used mixing with petroleum oil in some places. For Bangladesh, biofuel could be an effective alternative energy source. As we have an ample scope for producing electricity through setting up biogas plants, it is feasible. Biogas can be produced not only from cow dung, but also from poultry droppings. We should put more emphasis on organic agriculture, which is not only environment-friendly but its products are also healthy and harmless for people. Besides, the Rural Electrification Board may be given the task of setting up biogas power plants in the rural areas on cooperative basis for reducing the use of fossil fuel electricity.
