NILPHAMARI, Apr 25: BP Organic Product Co Ltd of Dimla upazila invented a technological device to produce lubricating oil from the fruits of castor tree. They demonstrated it in the recently held agriculture fair in Nilphamari town.
Owner of the firm, Ashraf Ali claimed that millions of castor trees could be planted in the arable lands stretching across the country and also in the homesteads of poor villagers to produce enough bio lubricant oil to meet the demand of the country and that could save billions of taka spent in oil import.
The company is also demonstrating technology to produce organic fertiliser by mixing components like water hyacinth, garbage materials, residues of kitchen wastes, leaves of tree, straw, ash, liter, dust of dry fish, oilcake, bone powder etc.
Organic fertiliser is a substitute to all kinds of chemical fertiliser being used by the farmers at present.
The block supervisors of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) demonstrated other agro technologies including drum seeder, thrashing equipment of paddy and wheat etc in the fair.
Sources said DAE Nilphamari failed to popularise drum seeder technology, the devise that came from southeast Asian country Vietnam. This technology could bring down the expenditure of the farmers down to 20 per cent and provide 15 per cent more yield per hectare.
