Biogas plants prospect high in Nilphamari

Tuesday, 6 December 2011

Our Correspondent NILPHAMARI, Dec 5: Production of environment friendly biogas from cattle dung is still neglected in the northern region. Biogas a renewable source of energy, can be used as fuel for cooking, lighting and so on. Sources say biogas has a great potential as an alternative source of energy in Nilphamari district as nearly four million kilogram cattle dung is produced per day here from 0.4 million cows and buffalos. This huge quantity of waste could be used in establishing 0.1 million biogas plants beside the homesteads of remote villages.
