BIRDEM doctors on streets

Doctors of BIRDEM demonstrated at Shahbagh in the city on Tuesday after an alleged assault by relatives of a patient who died in the hospital. The human chain they formed blocked traffic on the street in front of the hospital from 10:00am to 11:00am today, said Shahbagh Police Station OC Mohammad Shirajul Islam. Doctors say relatives of a patient assaulted a female doctor and vandalised the 14th floor of the multi-storey hospital building after the patient died on Sunday night. The doctors refrained from staging protests on Monday, since it was Pahela Baishakh – the first day of the Bangla New Year, according to bdmews24,com.
