Birth anniversary of Tagore May 8

The government has chalked out elaborate programme to mark the 153rd birth anniversary of great poet Rabindranath Tagore on May 8. This year’s theme of the birth anniversary is ‘Rabindranath and Bangladesh’. The main programme will be held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 11 am where Finance Minister AMA Muhith will be present as the chief guest. On the day (Thursday) at 7 pm, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will organise a cultural programme on its premises. The birth anniversary programme will also be celebrated at the places endowed with Tagore’s memory -- at Sheliadah of Kushtia, Shahzadpur in Sirajganj, Patisar in Naogaon and Dakshindihi in Khulna -- under the management of the local administration, according to a news agency.
