Bishwa Ijtema
Thursday, 20 January 2011
For the fist time the annual religious gathering of Bishwa Ijtema will be held in the country in two phases at Tongi for various cogent reasons.
The small area of Dhaka city is very congested and over populated. It can no longer bear the weight and burden of additional 4.0 to 5.0 million visitors/people from home and abroad who come to attend the Ijtema. Further the manifold sufferings and hardships of millions and millions of visitors/people in a small space of Ijtema ground on the bank of river Turag, lack of proper civic amenities, facilities and sanitary arrangements, accommodation, food, medicare and road traffic jam know no bounds.
May we request the authorities concerned to kindly consider if it is feasible to hold the Bishwa Ijtama in future at Solakia in Kishoreganj after making necessary infrastructure development and improving civic facilities?
We understand that there is no hard and fast rule that the Bishwa Ijtema should always be held at Tongi in Dhaka.
We came to know that a vast tract of land is available at Solakia to hold mammoth gatherings like the Bishwa Ijtema with provisions for building new roads and highways, accommodation units, rest houses, hotels, restaurants and dormitories for millions of domestic and foreign visitors.
We hope, if Bishwa Ijtema is shifted from Tongi to Solakia more and more visitors/people from home and foreign countries will attend the annual religious gathering and a new chapter will be opened in the history of Bangladesh.
