BIWTC launch, steamer tickets go online from May

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) will introduce online ticketing for its steamers and launches from next month (May) for the passengers.
To push the move forward the BIWTC and Sohoz Limited, an online organisation, signed an agreement on Sunday at the conference room of the ministry of shipping (MoS).
Secretary of BIWTC Md Fazlul Karim and managing director of Sohoz Limited Maliha Kadir signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
Minister for Shipping Shajahan Khan, secretary Shafique Alam Mehedi and chairman of BIWTC Md Mizanur Rahman were present on the occasion.
The passengers are requested to visit the designated website: www. Shohoz.com or dial 16374 for online tickets.
As per the agreement, the Sohoz Limited will give bank guarantee worth Tk 0.5 million (five lakh) to the government. The Sohoz Limited will deposit all the money earned from ticket selling to BIWTC at the end of the week.
Tickets of first and second class cabins and fair price tickets could be sold before five days of the journey.
The Sohoz Limited will realise service charge of Tk 21 for each cabin ticket and Tk 50 for home delivery. For a third class ticket the service charge is fixed at Tk 10. Customers could know the latest ticket selling position within 2:00 pm everyday.
Shohoz Limited will sell 74 first and second class cabin and all third class tickets of M V Bangali, P S Mahsud, P S Ostrich, P S Lepcha, P S Turn and M V Sela.
