BJFCI urges govt to frame law for consumers

Bangladesh Journalists' Forum for Consumers and Investors (BJFCI) urged the government Tuesday to enact an effective and time-befitting law as early as possible to ensure the rights of consumers, reports BSS.
The call came at a meeting of the BJFCI at the BID office in the city with the forum's convener Faruk Ahmed in the chair.
The meeting hailed the government for its action against the corrupt officials and employees of the Titas Gas Distribution and Transmission Company and the National Housing Authority, who amassed huge wealth illegally just causing sufferings to the consumers and investors, said a BJFCI press release.
The meeting urged the government to take similar steps in such other organisations also to ensure a corruption free society for the betterment of the consumers and investors.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by Kaykobad Milon (Ittefaq), Ali Sanwar (Bangladesh Observer), Monjur Mahmud (NTV), Ayub Bhuiyan (Bhorer Kagoj), Abul Khayer (Ittefaq), Nurul Azam Paban (BTV), Shamim Siddiqi (Inqilab), Md Enamul Haque (BSS), Belayet Hossain (Dinkal), Anisur Rahman (Financial Express), M Shahnewaz (BSS), Opiul Hasnat Ruhin (New Age) and Zahangir Alam (BID).
The BJFCI meeting chalked out an elaborate programme aimed at establishing the rights of consumers and protecting the interest of small investors.
