BJP leading in 309, Congress 72

Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance is leading in 309 constituencies out of 543 being contested while the ruling Congress party alliance was ahead in just 72 in India’s Lok Sabha elections, according to NDTV news. Earlier Reuters reported obtaining unofficial results from 989 counting stations, the BJP was leading in 261 seats which is not far short of a majority on its own, confirming the findings of the most optimistic exit polls.
