bKash Limited, country's leading mobile financial service provider, Wednesday donated 34,000 books worth Tk 3.0 million to the Bishwa Sahitya Kendra (BSK) at a programme in the city.
The donation was made to facilitate BSK's "Nation-wide Enrichment Programme", a book reading programme for students.
Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, founder chairman and chief executive of the BSK, received the contribution from Kamal Quadir, chief executive officer of bKash, at the ceremony, which was attended, among others, by senior officials of both the bKash and BSK.
The book reading programme, which is designed for the students of VI to X, is carried out in 460 schools with a target to reach around 45,000 students each year.
"The donation is the highest one, in terms of money, received by the BSK from the private sector in its 35-year journey to purchase books," Prof Sayeed said.
