Friday, 23 November 2007
FE Report
Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) has taken up an intensive post-cyclone agricultural rehabilitation programme following the nightmarish calamity caused by the cyclone 'SIDR' in the southern part of the country.
Under the programme, new loans will be disbursed promptly and transparently in the affected areas after rescheduling the old loans. Old outstanding loans will be re-scheduled without down-payment.
All the field offices and branches have been given directives to take care so that no client with loan application goes without getting loan from the bank's branch offices.
The 'Special Complaints and Loan Monitoring Cell' constituted earlier to monitor the post-flood rehabilitation programme will regularly monitor the special programme too.
A good number of high officials from the head office are deputed as promoters to monitor the programme with a view to making it successful. The promoters will closely supervise the programme and take care so that the intending farmers may get fresh loans transparently without harassment on rescheduling the old ones.
Besides, the chairman and the managing director of the bank along with other top officials will visit the affected areas during the programme.
