BKB disburses Tk 393.6m among B'baria farmers Our Correspondent

BRAHMANBARIA, July 31: Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) disbursed Tk 393.6 million (Tk 39.36 crore) loans among farmers in the district through its 26 branches during the fiscal 2006-2007, sources said.
The BKB also realised Tk 353 million outstanding loans during the same period. The target of Tk 338.9 million was fixed for realisation in the last fiscal year.
The realisation of outstanding loans is more than Tk 14.10 million higher than that of the previous year, sources said.
The realisation of 104 per cent outstanding loans in the last fiscal surpassed all previous records in the district, sources added.
The loans have been given for poverty alleviation so that farmers could implement various projects like cattle rearing, crop cultivation and invest in pisciculture.
The loans also have been given to small entrepreneurs as well as for purchasing of poultry and dairy farm machineries.
BKB earned Tk 33.5 million during the period through its branches.
