BKB to disburse Tk 622.50m in B'baria

BRAHMANBARIA, Jan 12: Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) has set a target to disburse Tk 622.50 million during the current fiscal year.
BKB has already disbursed Tk 297.80 million among 8750 poor farmers through its 26 branches in the district until December 31 last. The rate of disbursement was 48 per cent.
The bank has attained a significant success in recovering outstanding loans, particularly classified ones in the same period with a collective effort, BKB official said.
BKB recovered a total of Tk 273.30 million during the period in the region against the target of Tk 513.40 million of which the recovery rate was 53 per cent, BKB official added.
The bank also recovered a total of Tk 37.80 million as classified loan against the target of Tk 131.40 million of which the recovery was 29 per cent.
The bank deposited a total of Tk 1510.00 million during the period in the region against the target of Tk 440.00 million of which the achievement rate was 343 per cent. The bank also collected the remittance a total of Tk 55.00 million in the same period against the target of Tk 229.80 million of which the collection rate was 42 per cent.
The loans have been given for poverty alleviation so that farmers could implement various projects like cattle rearing, crop cultivation like paddy, wheat, mustard, chilli, vegetables etc and invest in pisciculture. The loans also have been given to small entrepreneurs as well as for purchasing of poultry and dairy farm machineries.
Currently, the bank has adopted some multipurpose work plans to make credit programme, which are being implemented at the grass-roots level, more easy.
Twenty-six branch managers and their respective field officers gave their commitment to the BKB at every performance review meeting that they would recover their target outstanding loans during the fiscal year.
The Chief Regional Manager (CRM) Anil Kumar Saha Roy told the FE that their main target was poverty alleviation so that poor farmers could change their life style. If they pay their outstanding loans than they would get new loans soon.
Branch mangers and field officers have to pursue the clients for deposits, recover outstanding loans and disburse new loans and fulfill their fixed targets, CRM urged.
