BKKT to distribute Tk 0.8m among 80 distressed sportsmen

Bangladesh Krirabid Kalyan Trust (BKKT) will disburse taka 0.8 million (8 lakh) as grant to 80 distressed sportsmen, reports BSS.
This was decided Wednesday in a BKKT's meeting with State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarker in the chair at his ministry in the city.
Sports and Youth Secretary Mahbub Ahmed, BKSP's Director General Brig Gen Mohammad Showkat Hossain, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, former law maker Mohammad Harunur Rashid, sports personality Zubera Rahman Linu, general secretary of Natore District Sports Association Syed Mustaq Ali Mukul and senior assistant secretary Mohammad Obaidul Haque were present in the meeting.
The meeting decided to donate Taka 10,000 to each of the 80 distressed sportsmen. They were selected at a meeting on August 25 last and 64 districts will be selected from the applications given to them by the distressed sportsmen.
National Women's Sports Association and different federations will provide names of 16 more distressed sportsmen.
The meeting also approved the names sent to the ministry by DSA and sports federations.
However, Linu, the only woman member present in the meeting, was not happy to find very few names of distressed footballers and women athletes.
Later, Sports Minister in his round-up speech assured her of taking special care in future while selecting the categories of distressed sportsmen.
