Blast marks CU-BCL blockade

Saturday, 10 May 2014

The fourth day of the blockade by a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Chittagong University (CU) unit was marked by explosion and arson.
The blockade supporters lobbed a handmade bomb in the city’s Sholoshohor Railway Station around 8am Saturday, Station Master Shahabuddin said, according to a news agency.
They also set a railway track on fire in Nandirhat, but that was put out immediately.
No shuttle train left the city since morning, the station master said.
The BCL faction is observing the blockade to protest against harassment of Awami League leader Nasir Haider Chowdhury Babul while attending a meeting to honour the late Vice Chancellor Abu Yusuf in April.
